Baptized "La Pierre Saint-Martin", the winter sports resort of the town of Arette, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, is located some 50 km south-west of Pau by road.
Built in the 1960s, it has a ski area of 75 hectares between 1500 and 2000 m altitude.
Bordering Spain, a station is also located on the Iberian side, La Pierre Saint-Martin is popular with families and skiers for its pleasant urban planning (chalets) and its green environment (pine forests).
In terms of downhill skiing, 13 ski lifts serve 24 pistes including 1 black, 7 red, 9 blue and 7 green totaling 25 km of descents.
As for Nordic skiing, 11 cross-country ski trails are available (1 black, 3 red, 4 blue and 3 green) for a total of 23 km of loops more or less hilly.
It is also possible to hike with snowshoes or dog sleds.

In summer, the resort is a paradise for hikers or mountain bikers but its geological wealth also makes it a famous site in terms of speleology. Activities related to whitewater like canyoning are also legion.
