Small town south of the Sologne village Ardon is in the Loiret region in the Loire Valley.

It was found the existence of this town since Roman times with the discovery of remains of an ancient Roman road that passed through the town and served other towns nearby. The etymology of the name of Ardon also proves that Roman genealogy since Ardon mean Latin Ardunum which can be translated as "near the fortress." We read also that Joan of Arc would have taken this ancient Roman road connecting Blois Orleans during the Hundred Years War.

Things to see and do

The village of Ardon has a very nice public park: the departmental park of Sinkholes Limère to Ardon. In this protected area and totally natural, one can observe an interesting feature: the presence of "sinkholes", a kind of natural craters dug by rain and communicate with limestone subsoil, forming an underground water network first plan. Entrance is of course free and the edges of Sologne there has come for pushchairs or disabled. This is an opportunity, summer and winter, a beautiful and peaceful walk. there one will discover more than 63 hectares of meadows and woods with varied plant species and a rich fauna, particularly composed of birds and mammals. Why not take the opportunity to organize a picnic? Areas are set up there.

A Ardon, one can also enjoy a typical Sologne recreation, fishing. When the season is open, we can take in ponds pike, trout or carp royal!

Golfers will also find in Ardon a very pretty course ranked among the most beautiful courses of France! Quite technical, nevertheless of fun with alternating lakes, bunkers and well defended green.

Since 2013, the village of Ardon demonstrates the solidarity of its people participating in Virada hope on the last Sunday of September. This day care, nearly 200 motorcycles backfire and cross the municipality to give their support to the fight against genetic disease cystic fibrosis.

The first Sunday of October, the village of Ardon is again at the center of the bustling area since every year a large garage sales is organized by the town hall. It is on the village green, Route de Jouy, that everyone makes an appointment from 8:30 to 18h to offer for sale or purchase for a nominal fee number of curiosities...
