Limitrophe of Spain and Ariège, Angoustrine-Villeneuve-des-Escaldes is a melting pot where Spanish, Catalan and French mingle in a harmonious waltz. The territory is vast and the town stretches languorously in the valley Saint-Martin on 8 787 hectares. From Carlit peak to 2,921 meters to the red peak, the landscape is rich and varied, cracked by streams. The commune was born in 1973 from the merger of the villages of Angoustrine and Villeneuve-des-Escaldes. The sources of water present on the territory were exploited by the Romans who built baths there. Towards the twelfth century, the villages formed around the seigniory Vilanova. Ideally located, the village today welcomes tourists and curists in this privileged holiday resort.
