The peninsula of Ambialet is a unique site to visit all year. Enlaced by a meander of Tarn 3 km long, the peninsula is dominated by a priory and a Romanesque church of the eleventh century built on a schistose needle. In the Middle Ages, Ambialet became the seat of the Vicomte of Trencavel, rivals of the counts of Toulouse and was occupied by Simon de Monfort during the crusade against the Albigensians (Cathars). The ruins of a castle testify to the grandeur of the medieval site.
