Allemond sometimes also spelled Allemont is a town in the Isère located in the heart of the Oisans, in the Eau d'Olle valley. The village of about 1000 inhabitants lies at the foot of the Belledonne, just across the Grandes Rousses massif which one has a magnificent view.

Created in the Middle Ages, the village was once turned to agriculture and livestock. After extensive mining activity, it is now focused entirely on tourism, winter and summer. On Lake Verney, Allemond offers a natural and enchanting visitors in search of outdoor activities.

Allemond is also a ski resort very popular, where many activities are possible. In the center of a fauna and flora of the most interesting, Allemond is the perfect site to enjoy the fresh air and an exceptional kind.

Things to see and do

Popular ski resort, the village of Allemond also has a beautiful architectural heritage, typical of the region.

The main tourist interest Allemond remains its ski resort and its many activities. In winter, cross-country skiing up Allemond which is one of the main centers in the region. It is also possible to learn about snowshoeing to discover the surrounding nature, such as massive Grandes Rousses and Belledonne.

In summer recreational activities are not lacking either. On bulk or by the lake of Verney, you can learn about fishing in torrents, bicycle touring, climbing, tennis, paddle boating, canoeing, optimist or to windsurfing.

In the center of the village, one can enjoy the Saint-Nizier church, built in the nineteenth century. She still has a beautiful bell dating from 1657.

The civil heritage of the village of Allemond no shortage of charm either, and you can discover the Grand'Maison dam, the old royal foundry which recalls the mining past of the village, the old mill, or tower Rochechinard.

Over the walks in the village and its surroundings, it is also possible to enjoy the highest climbing wall in Europe, the needle of the Eau d'Olle with thirty meters high, or the central EDF which dates from the early twentieth century.

A Rivier d'Allemont, of Allemond hamlet, visitors will enjoy the presence of museum Rivier, which now house the ibex and space York Mallory. This exhibition space is devoted mainly to ibex and lifestyle.

Events and festivities

Small village Allemond not least offers some of the most interesting events.

A food market is held in the streets of Allemond on Monday morning in July and August.

The Jazz'Allemont festival takes place in the village at the beginning of July. Jazz concerts, Cuban music or Indian and African Allemond alive until the end of the night.

During the period of Advent, late November or early December, the village offers its fair Allemond of Advent, and a mini Christmas market. On this occasion, the exhibitors offer culinary and craft specialties and local produce.
