The Albon Tower, located in the north of the department of Drôme, is a remnant of the Castle of the Counts of Albon. Erected in the 13th century on a territory that was to become the Dauphiné, the castle fort helped to consolidate the counts' power. Indeed, its elevated position gave them a clear view over the valley. A certain advantage when dealing with their enemies, especially the Counts of Savoy.

Perched on a mound of earth at 336 metres in altitude, the medieval tower offers a splendid view of the Rhône Valley and the Drôme hills!

In the 90s, archaeologists unearthed a number of remains relating to the castle. The ruins of a chapel, a palatial building and the communal areas were discovered in particular.

At the foot of the Albon Tower, explanation signs detail the history of the castle and the medieval period. A historical attraction in a peaceful and stunning setting...
