Today a rural family home with a school and boarding school, Puypéroux Abbey is also still the subject of pilgrimages and meditation camps and seminars. Founded in the 6th century by Saint Gilles, it now has buildings ranging from the 11th to the 19th century.
Visitors to Puypéroux Abbey can still admire the convent, the monastery and also the mid-11th century church. Listed as a Historic Monument, it reveals in particular beautiful sculpted capitals from the primitive Romanesque as well as a 12th century facade. Its octagonal dome and pentagonal choir make it an original architectural object.
