Located in New Aquitaine, in the Lot-et-Garonne department, the canal bridge of Agen is used to pass the navigation over the Garonne by the canal of the same name. Located between Agen and Agen Passage, it is the second largest canal bridge in France in terms of length after that of Briare, in Loiret.
Entirely stone Quercy, it was built in the early part of the nineteenth century, the Duke of Orleans Ferdinand-Philippe who laid his first stone in 1839. Listed in the Historical Monuments, it has two basins waiting, and several locks.
If you want to take a nice walk on the Garonne and admire the view, a footbridge, redone in 2002, allows to appreciate the canal bridge in all its splendor.
