We are delighted that we booked a 5-day break at Josiane and Marc Jeulin's farm chambre-d'hote near Vendome. The accommodation in the converted barn was roomy, comfortable and with an en-suite shower room, Downstairs there was a large well-appointed common room with dining table, hot drinks, fridge, cooker, microwave, washing machine and TV, where folk from the four rooms met to chat over the sumptious breakfast with pancakes, cake, home-made jams, fruit, etc and self-made evening meals if required. Outside was a large garden, an attractive farmhouse, lounger chairs in the orchard near the clean above-ground pool, country walks and at the bottom of the lane about 600 metres away a friterie where sausage/ham/etc and chips, drinks, and so on could be purchased and consumed in comfortable surroundings. The location is rural, with five substantial villages/small towns within 15 minutes, the delightful historic town of Vendome about 20 minutes away on the River Loir, Blois and Amboise about 45 minutes, and interesting troglydite (sp?) villages nearby. But the most delightful aspect of ourt stay was the warm, friendly, helpful, laughing personlity of Josiane and her welcoming husband Marc, not to mention their happy dog Tsunami. They made you feel truly welcome, chatting happily and helpfully, always ready to help if neeeded, and discrete if not. And the rooms are around 50 € for two each night - a bargain. Strongly recommended.
