Municipal campsite Le Vieux Chatel is located in a natural wooded surrounding, just by the lake and only a few minutes walk to the center. With much history, beautiful buildings, popular restaurants, shops and the famous fortress, Combourg is a favourite place of many, not forgettin the Monday market. On site you will find lots of facilities such as games in a common room, laundry, wi-fi, drinks... In the surrounding parkland there are tennis courts, boules, children's playgrounds and fit equipment. Fishing in the nearby lake is great. The ideal place for visiting a beautiful region (St-Malo, Mont-St-Michel, Dinan, Rennes, Fougères...)
Very pleasant site with generous pitches next to parkland area of walkways and cycle paths. Friendly and helpful staff who kept the site and toilet blocks very clean and tidy. Easy walk/cycle to the interesting town centre and its amenities. Local chateau well worth a visit.

We camped here for two nights. Plenty of choice of pitches. Lovely location close to the town. Reception helped us when I was bitten by a bug and my foot swelled up. They rang the Super U and spoke to pharmacy for me in French. I got the right tablets and antihistamine cream right away. We were impressed as this was our first visit to a Municipal site and the facilities were very good, clean and centrally placed. Maybe a few more benches and tables placed near the tent area would be useful.
Thank you very much, Brigitte. Helping our customers is what we do ! We are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us and hope your trip back was a pleasant one. Take care ! Kind regards, Liliane
Combourg as a base
I have used many municipal campsites throughout France and this one is the best yet: spotlessly clean, bright and cheerful, very helpful staff and situated just off a small lake with wonderful views of the chateau. We used this as a base to travel around to Dinan, Montford, Rennes, Mont Saint Michel and the local forests to visit Neolithic passage graves and menhirs, all within a maximum of 20 mins drive. The mobile home that we rented had all mod cons including sat tv. Would I stay again? Certainly. The only improvement that I might suggest is that a kettle be provided as well as a coffee machine.
Hello David ! Thank you so much for your comment. We have been very pleased to have you in May in the mobile-home. You were such nice people ! The kettle should have been already in the mobile-home but we will give a thought to the coffee machine ; il should be a very simple one so that anyone can use it … Best regards from Liliane, Sharon and Marc.

A Great Campsite for a long or short stay
I have used this campsite on two previous occasions when cycle touring and found it a very pleasant tent camping stop-over in an attractive situation. This time my brother and I hired a two bedroom cabin for two weeks whilst property viewing in the Normandy/Brittany area. My daughter and family from Hong Kong joined us for the second week. We all had a great stay although the weather was unseasonably wet. The campsite is spacious and facilities are clean and good. It is a municipal site so don't expect a holiday park but if you are looking for somewhere secure and pleasant to camp beside a lovely lake and within walking distance of a pretty town with history and nice shops and restaurants then this is the spot for you. The staff at the site are very friendly and helpful which is probably the most important factor and for someone like me who struggles with his schoolboy French the presence of English speaking staff was a huge help.
Hello, Roger and Bryan ! We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and we thank you for spending some time leaving your appreciation on France Voyages. It was great for us to meet your family and we hope to welcome you again, even as a simple visitor when you stay in your future cottage in Brittany. Wishing you all the best, kind regards.
