Warm hospitality in Provence.

I traveled with my wife and adult daughter from the U.S. Didier and Marie-France were very welcoming and made our stay a very pleasant one. I'll divide my review into categories to make it easier to follow. 1) Location. Excellent location, close to major roads but not too close, very easy to find. 10 minutes from Avignon. Less than one mile from the square in Vedene with a perfectly decent restaurant, Le Gout Pile, very convenient for your first night. 2) Property. It's an oasis. Lovely, well tended olive grove in the back. Large, spotless pool, kept at a pleasantly cool but not cold temperature. Also, it's lightly salinated and barely chlorinated. The dining room overlooks the olive grove and it's a delightful place to have breakfast. There is a rec room with exercise machines (which we didn't use), a fridge, ping-pong table, and large tv. We didn't have time to use it but it could have come in handy in bad weather. 3) Room. We had a suite next to the pool. Two separate rooms, one with a queen and one with a double bed (or whatever the French equivalents are). Very clean and spacious, with newly renovated bathroom with excellent shower. It was very quiet and relaxing. The windows have screens to keep out mosquitoes - a nice touch after traveling in the U.K., where they don't have screens for whatever reason. The bed was comfortable. There is a small fridge stocked with drinks like a minibar, each available for a couple of euros. 4) Breakfast. We read some negative reviews about breakfast but we were very pleased. There was always fruit, home-made preserves, brioche, croissants, charcuterie, cheeses, yogurt, and of course coffee or tea. We found the breakfast very satisfying. 5) Hosts. Marie-France runs a tight ship and expects promptness and polite behavior - and she gives it in return. Didier was full of good recommendations and enthusiasm. They were very patient with my high school French and frequent use of Google translate. They run a fabulous gite.
