A warm welcome awaits you at our family home set high on a hillside overlooking the beautiful village of Olliergues. Le Coteau d'Olliergues in the heart of the Livradois Forez, combines fantastic food and beautiful scenery with a friendly, relaxed family atmosphere. Our rambling 1930's home is a great base to explore the wonders of the Auvergne or for a relaxing pause on route to the south. Our rooms are light-filled and spacious, each with a private bathroom and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The vast gardens filled with fruit trees and flowers offer the chance to relax in the sun, whilst the dining room provides tea and coffee making facilities, homemade cakes and WiFi!. A hearty breakfast of homemade and locally sourced produce is served on the terrace or in the garden room and our Table d'hote inspired by the seasons can be reserved any night of the week. We also hold food events, market tours and our famous 'CheeseSkool' - a 3 hour tutored tasting of Auvergne cheese & local produce. Dietary requirements are not a problem - just please let us know in advance. We love welcoming families and have travel cots, boaster seats, toys and games at your disposal - we have traveled extensively with our own 4 children and appreciate the luxury of staying somewhere you can really feel at home! Originally from the UK, we love to share all our local discoveries – the best markets, museums, children's play areas, ski stations. Perhaps take time out to ‘unplug' yourself from modern life with a picnic at a local fishing pond or a swim in a mountain lake - we know some magical places! There are many sporting and cultural events throughout the year, including music events, food festivals and fetes. The local brocantes are a must for picking up beautiful linens, antiques and curiosities, undiscovered by the professional dealers! For walkers and cyclists we can arrange a picnic lunch and have local maps and guides, plus safe storage for bikes. Whatever your passion, from golf to gliding, we can probably organise it!, Whilst the skies are huge and the mountain air breathtakingly pure, we are far from isolated. The towns of Thiers and Ambert are less than 30 minutes away, as is the A89 motorway Lyon to Bordeaux. Clermont-Ferrand airport is 60 minutes away with regular flights including the UK and we have off-road parking with covered standing for touring motorcycles. If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact us and we hope that we will welcome you soon!
