Magic
Arriving at 5 pm on an overecast day at this special property, we failed to get an answer at reception. Soon a lady wearing rubber gloves appeared from an outbuilding offering help and we said that we had reserved a room with " le diner " for two nights. She informed us that they had no guests booked in for that night and beckoned her husband. After some " head scratching " it became clear that I had failed to confirm my initial reservation and therefore we were not expected. (We Brits should always confirm our reservation) Bernard quickly informed us that there was a room available, which we gratefully accepted, but he would have to enquire with his wife Chantal if " le repas ". was possible. (A tall order considering my wife Jennie does not eat meat) He returned bearing very welcome news, to be ready for aperetif at 7.30. The many hours that the four of us spent around their table that evening were chambre d'hotes at it's best, with a superb meal and fun company, especially considering Chantal's last minute preparation !!! Our second evening spent around that lovely table was equally enjoyable. Full marks to a very hard working and welcoming couple. An added bonus is it's proximity to the Caen Ferry. Merci Beaucoup Bernard et Chantal. Trevor et Jennie.

Dream accommodation in Normandy
As four tired cyclists we couldn't believe our luck when we enjoyed one of the best nights you could dream of. Welcoming hosts who dealt with a misunderstanding in our booking even though they had a wedding going on the next day. We stayed in rooms 4 and 1 in the farmhouse. Clean, spacious, tastefully decorated rooms with state of the art bathrooms. We had booked the evening meal which started with aperitifs on the terrace followed by a delicious home cooked four course meal. Around a large farm house table with excellent wine and home made Calvados accompanied by the other French guests. Many of whom were staying for a week and planning to return for their next holiday. The breakfast was also fresh and delicious and the cost incredibly reasonable. This property is off the radar for many British guests, but I would recommend a short break or holiday and you won't be disappointed.

A warm welcome
We arrived by bicycle in the late afternoon of a very hot day and immediately offered refreshment: we were glad to accept cups of tea. We were given a ground floor room with its own entrance and shower room. We were invited to take the 1.4 km walk round the farm and enjoyed it. We were the only guests and the owners invited their neighbour to join us all for an aperitif before the delicious 4 course evening meal with wine.

Fantastic hospitality in a beautiful farm house location
We have just returned form a wonderful 4 days in Normandy where we stayed aat Ferme la longre which we found to be very pleasant and welcoming and the perfect way to relax and unwind from London living. Bernard and his family have done a wonderful job renovating this beautiful farm to provide very modern and comfortable accomodation. The rooms are spacious, recently renovated, tastefully decorated and have beautiful views of the countryside. The breakfast was also exceptional with local jams, breads, coffee/tea, juice, and fruit to set you up for the day. Additionally, Bernard and his wife were also very helpful and attentive and helped with suggestions of what to do/see. Cerisy-la-Foret is a lovely small village on the border of Calvados/La Manche and a good base for exploring the area. Locally there is a fantastic romanesque Abbey that dominates the town and originally dates from 600AD. There is also the forest which has a number a good walking routes and some great local restaurants and nearby cidre farms/calvados houses. Nearby, Bayeux is only a 15 minute drive as are the landing Beaches of Omaha and Utah with various museams/memorials etc and are similarly about a 15 minute drive. All in all a great trip and welcome break from the busy nature of city living.
