This castle whose millennium was celebrated in 2010, retains its military aspect. However in the sixteenth century it was partly transformed into a pleasure castle in which king Louis xiii was received in 1621. This stronghold of the Dauphiné is decorated with a French garden allowing terraces a panorama on the Bourbre valley.
A living castle, over the centuries throughout history, since it is also a place of Resistance of the Second World War. The title "Righteous Among the Nations" was delivered posthumously on July 17,2016 to Mrs. and Mr. Marquis Xavier de Virieu.
Currently the castle is open to the visit to discover 7 centuries of history through rooms all furnished and unusual and that this castle is still inhabited by the descendants of those who had it erected.
Animations, thematic visits, workshops for children allow all generations to appropriate the places
