Open since 1986 with an exhibition by François Morellet, the Oniris gallery has become, over time, one of the essential places of contemporary art in Brittany. For more than three decades, the history of the Oniris gallery reveals the particular attention given to the study of contemporary art in the field of abstraction ● by painting, drawing and sculpture ● with a philosophy of basic : regularly expose the recent work of a group of about thirty artists. The gallery represents internationally and nationally recognized artists such as Aurelie Nemours, Véra Molnar, Norman Dilworth, François Morellet, Geneviève Asse, Christian Bonnefoi, Alain Clement, Philippe Cognée, Jean-Pierre pincemin or Claude viallat and others to discover. Based in Rennes since day one, the Oniris gallery has built a solid reputation thanks to the successive presentations of its artists, which it regularly invites to a solo exhibition. Far from its base, the Oniris gallery has regularly participated in international contemporary art fairs for more than twenty-five years in Paris [Fiac, Drawing Now, Art Paris] and abroad [Brussels, Cologne, Karlsruhe, New York, Turin]. Since 2012, Florent Paumelle has directed the gallery with the aim of respecting the relationship between the work of established artists and that of a young generation of emerging artists who share a common conceptual language.
