First solid workmen of men for the work of the land and the transport of driftwood, the beautiful white Charolais oxen, originating from Saone-et-Loire, have adapted to these poor lands and it is the the story of the incredible expansion of the famous Charolais cow, from 1800 to the present day, which the Musée de l'Elevage and Charolais proposes to tell you.
It is also the story of the evolution of the fascinating profession of breeder-breeder, which has raised the Charolais breed to an exceptional quality. Taking advantage of an ungrateful land, these enthusiasts turned the granitic massif of the Morvan into a cradle of the Charolais, a breeding ground, leaving the care of the fattening of their animals to the richer lands of Bazois, Auxois or the Autunois, to the plains of the Po in Italy. From local livestock fairs and markets, these cattle have now conquered the global market, from Canada to Brazil, from Norway to China.
Finally, the story of ancestral know-how, a love of the trade, which has been able to adapt to the challenges of our modern world, without compromising on quality.
