Explore the vines on a family wine estate

We booked the three-hour tour of the vineyard, winery and cellar followed by tasting of 6 wines, with samples of excellent locally-prepared food. It was a delightful visit, and one of the highlights of our holiday. Our guide, Myriam (wife of the vineyard owner) was so knowledgeable and engaging, answering all of our questions and making the visit thoroughly enjoyable. Her English is superb. The selection of wines to taste was excellent and the food delicious. The price for the tour might seem high at first glance, but it is absolutely worth the money !

This tour was a definite highlight of our trip to the Loire Valley. The ambiance at the winery is peaceful and welcoming. Our guide, Myriam, was absolutely lovely. She lead our group of 10 people through the vineyard and explained the history and techniques used by the family in cooperation with the AOC. After our stroll, we visited the caves and were greeted by a beautiful table prepared for us in the cellars ! We were all able to relax and visit while enjoying regional snacks paired with six different wines. It really felt like a behind the scenes look into the intricate world of wine making, made personal and welcoming by this special family ! We would absolutely go back again.

We visited the Vouvray area with the intent of enjoying wine and touring a vineyard. The “From Vine to Wine Tour” that Myriam provided at Vignoble Alain Robert (owned by her in-laws) was the perfect thing. We started with a wonderful walk through the vineyards where Myriam covered everything from biology to geology at a general level. She was also able to answer our more penetrating questions (we are scientists after all) on all topics. We then proceeded to the caves for lessons on production of still and sparkling wines. Once back in the tasting room, Myriam gave generous pours of seven different wines from the winery and matched them with small, delicious tidbits to illustrate how well the wines paired with food. If you just care about drinking, skip this tour ; but if you want the details from vine to wine (and from the soil to the vine too !) and enjoy knowing how good wine goes with good food, definitely do this tour !

We had such fun at Myriam's Vineyard tour. Such a beautiful place and a very welcoming host. The wines we tasted were just lovely and paired with beautiful local foods. We would really recommend this experience. It was a relaxed and very personal tour. Tres bien.

It was a tricky decision whether to go for Myriam's Vineyard tour or the tasting & evening boat trip on the Loire. We settled for the vineyard tour and had a most enjoyable time, that left us wishing we'd gone to both events. As we wanted to sample the wines and not worry about driving ourselves, we'd opted for public transport to the family run vineyard and Myriam was extremely helpful providing bus times and taxi numbers in advance, even collecting us from the local village bus stop. A look at the vines, then a tour of the production area & hand hewn caves where the wine is stored, was very interesting & informative. Myriam's extensive knowledge just added to the tasting of the wines produced by Alain Robert & Fils and a couple of other local vinters. The real stars of the event were the wines themselves, as mainly red wine drinkers we were taken aback by the quality of the Vouvray extra brut and Les Charmes produced at the vineyard, conclusion being that the French were keeping the best for themselves. A nice spread of local meats, cheeses and delicacies were the perfect accompaniment to the wine tastings. Our biggest regret is not buying more to take home with us. I would highly recommend this tour (and wine) to anyone. Good value and gives you a real feel for the wine production in this region.
