Gîte Mes Corbières Jolies

We had a great week here at the start of August and were only sorry it couldn't have been longer (we had already had a week over near Quillan). The house is very central in the middle of the village but there was very little noise, especially at night. The house is up on the first floor over a garage and has a really nice terrace where you can barbecue, eat and sunbathe. The house is very well equipped and finished in very good taste. Being two couples we liked the fact that the two double bedrooms were at opposite ends of the house (we didn't need to use the third twin bedroom) and there were two bathrooms, so good privacy and no queues in the morning! The location is excellent to explore the hills, castles and vinyards of the Corbieres, with excellent walking right from the door. There are vintners offering tastings in the village itself, but the owners are part of the Mont Tauch cooperative so it makes good sense to go down to the winery there for your tastings and purchases. Equally, you can get to the beaches in 40 minutes by car. La Franqui and Port Leucate are very nice little resorts, blue flag beaches and just enough shops and restaurants. Finally I have to say thanks to Mr and Mrs Peyre for their welcome and their kindness. Getting a tour of their own vinyard was a real highlight of the stay. Thoroughly recommended!

We had a wonderful one week vacation at this splendid place. House is not so big but has everything to make your stay extremely relaxed. A room for kids with separate bathroom and plenty of games (we haven't seen our children since the first day). Kitchen is really nicely equipped ready to host quick bites as well as real feasts. Charming decor, big wooden furniture, books together with a view on slopes covered with vineyards creates an unique peaceful atmosphere. House full of light and warmth, brought by its hosts, Mr et Mme Peyre, who offered a very delicate patronage and an unforgettable walk in their vineyards. You wouldn't like to get away, but you have to... Since you are so close to the Medieval History (Pays des Cathars), unesco heritages (Canal du Midi), to the warmth of Mediterranean sea and the gourmandises of Catalan cuisine. Everything within 1-2 hours of ride. We are planning to return here again, together with friends to explore more of this very special Land from a house where you feel yourself at home'. Olga.
