Gite near Rouen : Beautiful house built in 1740 located 15 minutes from Rouen in a rural village, Val de la Haye, which borders the Seine. It was here that the boat stopped bringing back the remains of Napoleon Bonaparte from St. Helena on August 15,1844, commemorated by the column Napoleon in the village. The gite is joined to the house on the south wing and part of the original structure. It has been tastefully refurbished with beams and oak floors. The gite consists of a kitchen / dining room, bathroom with a large shower, a first floor lounge with a double bed setee and a separate bedroom with a double bed. Two terraces with garden furniture and a large garden. We are near a national forest with walks and cycle routes you can follow the «routes des fruits», a picturesque ride towards Le Harve passing through pretty towns with famous monasteries and many chateaux. The historic town of Rouen has tourist sites related to Joan of Arc, many cafés, bars and restaurants and shopping. The motorway to Paris is five minutes away, thanks to a crossing of the Seine by a small free ferry, and just over one hour to Paris center. In this way, you can easily visit many castles, those of the Crusaders and the house of Claude Monet and its famous gardens (Giverny). The Côte d'Albâtre in the north has many beautiful beaches and villages including the famous town of Etretat is a 45-minute drive.
