Our holiday flat, the alambic is situated in the peaceful village of Montsec, which nestles at the foot of a wooded hillside, the Butte de Montsec 380 m high. The Alambic is part of a farmer distillery where the ourner's father made brandy from the mirabelle plums for which the region is renouned. The region enjoys a micro-climate which appeals to all the countrysidel nature-lovers. Explore the countryside by car, bicycle, motobike or on foot, and discover the banks of the river meuse or go roune the Medine Lake (a round trip of 20 km). In April, admire the mirabelle plum trees in full flower and in August enjoy the fruit tarts and pies. At the top of the Butte de Montsec you can visit the American Memorial which commemorates the offensive by the U. S. Army against the Germans entreched at the Saint-Mihiel heigts during the First World War. From here you can admire a magnificent view. The village is only 45 km from Verdun. A 1.6 km from village lies the Medine Lake situated in the heart of the regione nature Park of Lorraine which covers a surface of 11 000 acres with 250 acres of adjoining woodland.
