Warm and welcoming, nothing too much trouble to make you feel right at home
The pool was warm, the sun was hot, the company was superb. On a busy day there must have been three cars pass the property. The ideal location for tranquility when you want it, but close enough to get out and about and see the local places of interest when you want to. The property has everything you need, want and more. From bbq, outside dining to fresh decor and cosy beds inside. It is a place i will go to again and again.

Perfect place to relax
We thought the setting was just wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing, just perfect to get away from the frantic pace of life and s-l-o-w right down! Our teenage boys even learned that they could survive without internet! But we also liked the fact we could still tune in to English TV and radio if we wanted to. The night sky was amazing! Sitting on the terrace in the evening looking at the stars, just great!

Heaven on Earth
We discovered Loutre in 1996 and we have returned there every year since. A wonderful cottage in a superb setting. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you. With all the amenities you need. We love having lunch by the heated pool and BBQs on the terrace. We have eaten in a number of good quality local restaurants. There are nearby picturesque walks and you are within easy reach of Limoges and the Dordogne if you fancy a run out. The local town, Chalus, is steeped in history. It was at Chalus castle where Richard the Lion Heart was shot in the neck by an arrow. It features in the opening scene of the new Robin Hood film with Russell Crowe. We cannot rate this cottage too highly. Mine hosts, John and Barbara, will make you most welcome and ensure that you will have a memorable stay at Loutre.
