The Yonne has five vineyards. The prestigious Chablis vineyard is famous for its fine white wine. Situated in the Serein valley, the Chablis vineyard extends over about 15 kilometres length and 20 kilometres width. This wine-growing area produces four appellation wines (AOC wines, whose origin and quality are guaranteed): Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. The latter is produced on the vineyard's best soil.
The Yonne also has other quality vineyards: Auxerrois, Tonnerre, Joigny and Vézelay vineyards.
