Chief town of the Haute-Saône, Vesoul is a peaceful, manageably-sized town. It features pretty narrow streets and beautiful buildings dating from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries.

The city also boasts a 90-hectare lake situated two kilometres away: Vaivre lake. It is an active water sports centre.
