Vence attracted famous painters, such as Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall. Outside the city, the Rosaire chapel, designed by Henri Matisse, is not to be missed. The medieval old town is full of charm, especially the Peyra square known for its delightful fountain. Moreover, this square is a former forum of the Romanesque city. Art galleries, restaurants and cafés line the pretty narrow streets.

An important musical event takes place every summer, the "Nuits du sud" (Nights of the South). This event brings together music artists from various countries around the world.
