165,000 hectares in size, the Upper Jura Regional Nature Park extends over three départements: the Jura, the Ain and the Doubs. The highest place of the park is the Crêt de la Neige peak at 1720 metres in the Ain département.
A series of stunning landscapes – mountains, rivers, waterfalls, mountain meadows, forests and villages – make this area a paradise for nature lovers and hiking fans.
In the Doubs département, do not miss a walk in the Mouthe valley, covered with forests and prairies, which is notably where the Doubs River has its source.
In Chapelle-des-Bois, the Michaud House heritage museum, housed in a 17th-century farm, recounts the life of the farmers over the last centuries.
During a stay in the Upper Jura massif, visitors can also see Jura cheeses like Comté and Morbier being made in the numerous cheese dairies located in this area.
