The small village of Ternant, located south-east of the Nièvre, is of particular interest as its Church of Saint-Roch contains two superb triptych altarpieces from the 15th century. Adorned in minute detail, these remarkable works, made of painted and gilded carved wood, come from Flemish and Brabant workshops and are greatly admired. The Altarpiece of the Virgin, illustrating seven episodes of the life of the Virgin, and the Altarpiece of the Passion, representing different scenes from the Passion of Christ, make it an unmissable place for all lovers of sacred art!
