Situated in the south part of the Haut-Rhin, the Sundgau region is dotted with numerous ponds teeming with carp. Handsome floral villages with half-timbered houses are worth a visit, such as Hirtzbach and its houses along the river; Riespach and its beautiful timber-framed houses; Ferrette and the ruins of its castle.

In June, the medieval festival of Ferrette transports the town back to the Middle Ages.

The speciality of Sundgau is fried carp.
