Nicknamed the Romanesque Sixtine, the abbey church of Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is unusual in that it is home to the biggest and most beautiful set of Romanesque frescoes in France. These magnificent murals of the 11th and 12th centuries, which notably decorate the vault of the nave, are a delight for the eyes.

The scenographic trail, situated in the former monk cells, allows the visitors to find out more about the abbey and its famous frescoes.

The "Vallée des Fresques" circuit passing through Montmorillon, Jouhet and Antigny, allows the murals lovers to find more discoveries.
