Covering 640 hectares, the Saint-Pourçain vineyard was once very popular with St. Louis and the Popes of Avignon, and is one of the oldest vineyards in France! Its red and rosé wines are light and fruity, and account for ¾ of the production of this area, and its white wines have been awarded an Appellation of Controlled Origin. Located at the heart of Bourbonnais on the vineyards on the banks of the Allier and the Sioule, the vines of Saint-Pourçain include several grape varieties: Gamay and Pinot Noir for the reds, Gamay for the rosés, and Chardonnay and Tressalier for the whites.

Worth a visit: the Museum of Vines and the Land, based in the house of the bailiff of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, a space dedicated to this vineyard's history.

Two main events that take place each year in Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule celebrate the local wines: the wine fair in the last weekend of February, and the wine and food festival in the second fortnight in August.
