Around Verdun, the fort and Ossuaire of Douaumont, the trench of bayonets, cemeteries and destroyed villages in the Battlefield express pain and sadness.

A presentation of these various sites is essential:

   - The Douaumont Ossuaire was setup between 1920 and 1932 with the aim of taking in the rests of 130,000 unidentified soldiers;

   - The Douaumont fort, built in 1885, played an important role in the defense of Verdun;

   - The trench of bayonets is the place where one of the many sections of infantry was buried in 1916;

   - Beaumont, Bezonvaux, Cumières, Douaumont, Fleury, Haumont, Louvemont, Orne and Vaux are all villages which were fully destroyed during the war.

These various remains loaded with a strong emotion allow the visitors to become really aware of the horrors of the war.
