A presentation of these various sites is essential: - The Douaumont Ossuaire was setup between 1920 and 1932 with the aim of taking in the rests of 130,000 unidentified soldiers; - The Douaumont fort, built in 1885, played an important role in the defense of Verdun; - The trench of bayonets is the place where one of the many sections of infantry was buried in 1916; - Beaumont, Bezonvaux, Cumières, Douaumont, Fleury, Haumont, Louvemont, Orne and Vaux are all villages which were fully destroyed during the war. These various remains loaded with a strong emotion allow the visitors to become really aware of the horrors of the war.
