The visit of the Notre-Dame-de-France cathedral built in the 11th century should not be missed, as well as its cloister. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cathedral is of Auvergne Romanesque style with oriental and Spanish-Moresque influences. This site is also an important stopping point on the Way of St James (Santiago de Compostela pilgrim route). The old town has preserved its old pretty houses, especially in the Chamarlenc and Pannessac streets. The Crozatier museum is a real encyclopaedic museum dedicated to archaeology, art pieces, techniques, ethnography and natural sciences. The Corneille rock, on which stands the monumental statue of Notre-Dame de France, overhangs the city by 130 metres! From there, the view of Puy-en-Velay and its surrounding area is magnificent.
