The magnificent scenery of the Colorado de Rustrel was formed by erosion and the former ochre quarries built there to extract ochre from the sand.
Today the site features a whole series of ochre sculptures and cliffs with extraordinary colours ranging from pale yellow to bright red. The Colorado forest is crossed by a network of footpaths taking visitors past features such as the Sahara, fairy chimneys, cliffs and white desert.
