On a 65,000 hectare surface area, the Pilat Regional Nature Park extends over two départements: the Loire and the Rhône. This reserve protects an important fauna and flora and also offers the advantage of varied landscapes alternating between spruce forests, meadows, and hillsides covered with vineyards. The Pilat mountain area reaches its peak at the crêt de la Perdrix at an altitude of 1,432 metres. The large number of hiking and mountain bike trails, plus snowshoe and cross-country skiing trails in winter, will delight sporty types and nature lovers.

In the Loire département, don't miss visiting Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez, a village that is unusual in that it occupies the buildings of a former Carthusian monastery, and Rochetaillée, a village overlooked by the silhouettes of its church and feudal castle. And to enjoy a vast panoramic view of the Rhône valley and the Alps, head towards the crêt de l'Oeillon, whose summit boasts a viewpoint indicator.
