Travel Guide > France > Nord-Pas-de-Calais > Pas-de-Calais > The Opal coast

From Berck-sur-Mer to Calais, the Opal coast offers 120 kilometres of sandy beaches, dunes with psammophytes (oyats), cliffs and wild coasts bordered by seaside resorts, such as Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, Wimereux, Wissant, Berck-sur-Mer, and Hardelot-Plage. Certain resorts, like Wimereux and Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, have magnificent English-Normandy-style villas to walkers. Great for relaxation and to disorientation, the Opal coast is also well-located for sports and leisure activities, such as golf, sand-yachting, speed-sailing, cycling, and hiking. Green meadows, as well as nice-smelling pine forests lining the coast, are ideal for restful walks. On the beaches of the Opal coast decorated with pretty colourful beach huts, you will be amazed by the energetic entertainments of kites or sand yachts taking off at top speed.
