Reaching 1753 metres at its highest point, the mount Mézenc is situated between the Ardèche and the Haute-Loire. It is in this area, specifically in the highest village of the Haute-Loire, les Estables, that you can eat the famous beef of the Mézenc Fin Gras cow. The cattle are fed here on the best hay grown on the high mountain plateaux. This speciality is eaten traditionally at Easter.
