Nestling at the edge of the Aveyron Gorges, the pretty village of Montricoux is famed for its Marcel-Lenoir Museum. The latter, based in a 12th and 18th-century castle, contains a remarkable collection of drawings, oil paintings, pastels and watercolours by the painter Jules Oury, known as Marcel-Lenoir, who was born in Montauban in 1872 and died in Montricoux in 1931. Visitors can also explore the keep, a relic of the old commandery of the Templars, with its monumental hearth and ancient frescos.
Around the castle, a stroll in the village full of traditional houses is a must!
