Elegant building of the Renaissance period, the Maintenon castle is unusual in that it was the home of Madame de Maintenon, the secret wife of the king Louis XIV. Open to visitors, the castle has preserved its 12th-century square keep, remains of the former fortified castle.

The gardens designed by Le Nôtre, as well as the aqueduct designed by Vauban that crosses the park, add to the charm of the place.

The castle of the 16th and 17th and around the Middle Ages to bloom so far thanks to the rise of Madame de Maintenon became secret wife of King.
