The Luberon region is protected by a regional-run Regional Nature Park, which extends over 165,000 hectares and covers two départements: the Vaucluse and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Also listed Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO, Luberon possesses a considerable variety of animal and vegetal species. Moreover, some of these species are very rare.

It is at the Mourre Nègre, at an altitude of 1,125 metres, that peaks the Luberon mountain. It consists of two different parts separated by the Lourmarin coomb, the big Luberon massif and the small Luberon massif. Nature lovers and sporty types will be pleased.
