The biggest building of Paris is a palace in which lived previously the kings of France. For two centuries, this palace has been hosting the famous Louvre museum. Known all over the world, this museum contains an important art collection. This prestigious collection is distributed over seven départements: Egyptian, Oriental, Greek, Etruscan and Romanesque antiquities; sculptures, artistic objects, paintings and graphic arts from the Middle Age until 1850. New rooms are dedicated to Italian and Spanish paintings but also to the arts of Africa, Oceania, Asia and Americas. Famous paintings are exposed, such as the Joconde from Leonardo da Vinci's work. In the entrance stands the glass pyramid which is a creation of the Chinese architect Ieoh Ming Pei.
