The small town of Louviers is built along several arms of the Eure, and possesses a superb 13th-16th-century building: the Gothic Church of Our Lady has a sculpted porch on its south door which is a remarkable example of Flamboyant art. This intricate piece of stone lacework is adorned with all manner of sculpted features! Inside the church, a 15th-century Entombment, old religious statues and Renaissance stained glass windows are some of the gems to be found inside this historic monument.
Near the Church of Our Lady, there is plenty more to see in Louviers, with its old half-timbered houses on Rue du Quai and Rue Ternaux, and the cloister of the old Convent of the Penitents...the remains of which were laid on an arm of the Eure!
