Famous for its Armagnac, this fortified town of the 13th century remained authentic and magnificently well preserved. The brick half-timbered houses in Labastide-d'Armagnac seem to come out from another time, the arches of the central square are restful and are home to small shops such as the "vieillard maniaque" (obsessive old man) who sells "old armagnac" (vieil armagnac). The picturesque village is colourful and very flowery. It is a pity that cars parked in alleys and on the royal place distort somewhat the magic atmosphere of the place. |
