Nestling at the heart of the land of cherries, the small town of Fougerolles, in Haute-Saône, is famous for its kirsch, a cherry brandy carrying the Appellation of Controlled Origin label. Griottines, small wild cherries macerated in kirsch syrup, are also a speciality of Fougerolles.
Place to visit: the Land of Cherries Ecomuseum, based in an old distillery, in the hamlet of Le Petit Fahys. Learn all about the history and skills of distillation through original museum displays.
