The institution of the Invalides was created during the administration of the king Louis XIV with the aim of helping old soldiers and disabled persons. This set of buildings includes the Invalides Townhouse, the dome and the Saint-Louis church. The dome was covered with more than 555,000 golden sheets! The grave of the emperor Napoleon Ist is under the dome. |
