Reaching 750 metres at its highest point, the hilltop Haut-Koenigsbourg castle dominates majestically the Wine Trail and the Alsace plain. This impressive fortress, built in the XIIth century, was destroyed and reconstructed several times. The current state of the castle dates from the restoration of the beginning of the XXth century. This impressive building still kept its appearance of medieval fortified castle with its double surrounding wall, its keep, its bastions and its main courtyard. |
