Encircled by ramparts and ditches fed by the waters of the Aa river, the town of Gravelines offers visitors its fortified heritage. Boat or in pedal boat tours offered around the ramparts constitute an excellent way to discover the fortifications reshaped by Vauban.

Worth a visit: the Drawing and Original Embossment museum, housed in the former powder magazine of the arsenal-castle, which traces the history and the techniques of embossment.
