With a surface area of 63 560 hectares, the French Gâtinais Regional Nature Park stretches over two departments of the Ile-de-France region, Essonne and Seine-et-Marne. Known as the land of a thousand glades and sandstone, this area, located between the forest massifs of Fontainebleau and Rambouillet, is characterised by its contrasting landscapes, alternating woods and forests, valleys and rivers, glades and agricultural plains, blockfields and sandstone villages. Hiking, riding or cycling are all excellent ways of discovering the natural and architectural riches of French Gâtinais. On the trail, be sure to taste its gastronomic specialities, the most famous of which are Milly-la-Forêt peppermint, watercress, beer and Gâtinais honey!
The Park House in Baulne provides its visitors with plenty of information to plan their break or organise a hike in the park.
