Game-filled Écouves forest, situated in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park between Alençon, Carrouges and Sées, spans a vast 15,000 hectares, 8,200 of which are state-owned. Its sessile oaks, beech trees and Scots pines make it a delight for nature lovers. Its highest peak is the Signal d'Écouves at an altitude of 413 metres. The forest is an ideal destination for walking – it's crossed by two Grande Randonnée hiking trails (22 and 36) – and, in autumn, mushroom picking!
