Domfront perry, known as the Champagne of Normandy, is a sparkling, lightly alcoholic, pear juice based drink. Awarded AOC quality status, this speciality from the pear orchards of the Domfront farmland can be drunk as an aperitif or to accompany meat, fish and desserts.
The apple and pear centre (Maison de la Pomme et de la Poire), a stop on the Perry Trail (Route du Poiré) in Barenton in the Manche département, is home to a museum space dedicated to the different stages of cider-making, from apple and pear growing to the distillation process.
