Capital of Burgundy, Dijon is also the former capital of the dukes of Burgundy. This luxurious period explains the magnificent architecture of the city. Dijon indeed is home to beautiful buildings and town houses but also certain half-timbered houses. The palace of the Dukes and the States of Burgundy overhung by the Philippe le Bon tower hosts today the museum as well as the Town hall. Galleries and numerous pedestrian streets lined with shops and delicatessens are pleasant and really great for shopping. A hall is home to a lively market. For a break, the city has numerous parks and gardens such as Darcy garden and the botanical garden.
