This limestone mountain range is an unusual landscape of jagged peaks formed by erosion. Its highest point is Saint-Amand crest at 734 metres. The Dentelles de Montmirail rock faces are a very popular climbing destination.

All around lie the villages of the famous Côtes du Rhône vineyards, such as Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise.
