This limestone massif constitutes an original landscape with its peaks and its crests formed by erosion. Its highest point at 734 metres is the Saint-Amand crest. The rock faces of Dentelles de Montmirail are renowned place for climbing.

All around these natural sculptures, some villages of the famous Côtes du Rhône are located, such as Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise.
